During our recent visit, we stayed in a charming Airbnb that exceeded all our expectations. With breathtaking views, cozy interiors, and a prime location near some of Switzerland’s most iconic landmarks, it was the perfect getaway. Here’s our full review of this unforgettable stay.

About the Airbnb

Our Airbnb was a traditional wooden chalet, located in Rickenbach region. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by its blend of rustic charm, modern amenities, and the warm hospitality of the hosts. The newly renovated 3 and a half room apartment on the 2nd floor, has a bedroom with a box spring bed, a children's room with a single bed and a living room with a sofa bed. A fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, coffee maker, fondue and raclette oven. The cozy balcony invites you to linger and offers a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains and Lake Lucerne.

For us, the key features of the Airbnb included:

📍 Location: The Airbnb was situated in a quiet and peaceful area, surrounded by lush greenery and stunning mountain views. It was just around 37 km from Lucerne and 7 km from Stoos (see Nearby Attractions below).

🛏️ Amenities: The chalet came with 2 bedrooms, a cozy living room with a balcony offering stunning views, one modern bathroom, a well-equipped kitchen perfect for preparing meals, and free parking.

🛋️ Ambiance: The blend of traditional Swiss design and modern comforts made it feel like home.

The Views & Scenery

One of the standout features of this stay was the jaw-dropping scenery. From the balcony, we were greeted with sweeping views of majestic mountain peaks, rolling green hills, and the serene Lake Lucerne.

During our visit, the weather added an extra layer of magic. On one foggy morning, the valley below was shrouded in a thick blanket of clouds, making it feel like we were floating above the world. The changing light throughout the day made the landscape a living masterpiece.

Getting there is not complicated. The Airbnb is located approximately 37 km away from Lucerne, the nearest major city, and around 76 km from Zurich Airport (ZRH). The drive from Zurich Airport takes around 1 hour and 10 minutes. The nearest train station is in Schwyz. Free parking is available and this is very convenient since we always travel by car. For around 102.00 CHF per night, this accommodation provides excellent value. Please note that accessibility might be a concern as there are stairs to climb and no lift available. This could be challenging for guests with mobility issues.

Our experience

Staying at this chalet was nothing short of magical. Some of our favorite moments included sipping a coffee on the balcony and cozy evenings by the living room. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We also appreciated the cleanliness and attention to detail throughout the apartment.

The location was perfect for exploring the surrounding area. We took a day trip to Stoos, and the nearby mountains, all of which were within easy reach. The Airbnb was a peaceful retreat after a day of sightseeing, and we loved coming back to the stunning views and tranquility of the chalet.

A truly special moment was when the hosts graciously allowed us to invite a family of friends over for dinner. We shared a delightful raclette meal, filled with laughter, stories, and the warmth of good company. The evening was magical, with the cozy ambiance of the chalet and the breathtaking views outside, making it an unforgettable night that we will cherish forever.
